HVOF Coatings

HVOF coating
Ferroman Engineering specializes in high-speed flame spraying (HVOF) as compared to conventional flame spraying and plasma methods provide layers with superior properties. The process is based on the powder at high speed thrown against the surface to be coated. Fully dense layers are built up without the base is affected.

Advantages:
• Very high density of the layers (> 99%)

• Very good adhesion

• Even thick layers can be sprayed with good adhesion

• High deposition rates of material per hour

• The layers can be ground to very fine surface finish of Ra <0.1

With high velocity plasma spraying with flame and powder coating produced in purpose-designed metal alloys and carbides. Coating material consists of high quality powder from ordinary stainless steel alloys to super alloys with nickel or cobalt in essence. We work with laboratories and leading powder manufacturers to develop and adapt materials to meet customer demands in the best possible way;

Material choices are governed by strict requirements in the following applications. Increase Lifespan is often the fundamental purpose of our high-speed flame spraying

Heat resistance
Cobalt base alloys for heat resistance, which provides protection against high temperatures up to 1250 ˚ C in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres. Also ceramic materials can be applied. Applications are for example furnace rolls, muffle furnaces, annealing rings, leader of the hot rolling of steel and others.

Wear protection
Best protection against high wear obtained with coating consisting mainly of tungsten carbide with a hardness of 68-70 HRC. Applications are for example knives, wear plates, separators, paper rolls, rolls and wire for cold rolling of steel, slide bearings, guide rollers, heat exchanger, exhaust pipes, Zinkpott rolls, fuel boilers, impellers etc.

High hardness (64-67 HRC) at high temperatures up to 750 ˚ C is obtained with chromium carbide due to the high density and that the matrix consists of Ni-Cr obtained also very good corrosion properties. Can replace hard chrome methodology. Applications are for example hydraulic shafts, shafts, fans and fan housing, rotary valve and others.

Corrosion Protection
Corrosion protection is achieved by coating with stainless steel alloys. Through our HVOF technology becomes layers also corrosion resistant. These layers are competing with tex lining and surfacing. Applications include the tanks, fans and others.
